Marine Parade, St Kilda

The house was built leaving the attic space all but a skeleton and yet adjoining this space is a substantial deck area overlooking the bay and Royal Melbourne Yacht Club.

The brief was for a fit-out providing a light filled retreat with lounge / painting studio, integrated kitchenette, storage room and adjoining powder room.

The space required an abundance of built in book shelves. These formed a strong wrap around design element. A continuous stone clad bench continues from the inside through to the outside cutting through the window. Bi-fold doors open this space up to the deck forming an indoor / outdoor connection.

A new BBQ area is situated on the opposite end of the deck.

Part of the external balustrading has been cut down and replaced with glass, in order that the Port Phillip Bay is visible when seated inside.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

Martin and I worked closely on our first project together constructing the interior and surrounds of a roof top retreat on Marine parade St Kilda for a discerning client.

I feel we have achieved an excellent result and an excellent working relationship together.

This was no doubt due to his eye for detail and concise documentation. I feel the project is a credit to his design ability.

I couldn't recommend him any stronger.

Regards

Craig Hopcraft
