Hammond Street, Brighton
399m2 / 43sqs each house
The clients approached M.F.A as they were unhappy with their approved plans for 2 x 2 storey town houses.
An entirely new design was created which stayed within the approved form, mass and height envelope, thus reducing the length of the new planning application.
The clients were inspired by various aspects of the Laburnum Court town houses.
One enters the ground floor through a 2 storey bluestone clad entry feature. The entry space provides a 2 storey void with pendent light above creating a voluminous sense of space. The entry hall orientated on the curvilinear stair beyond leads to the spacious lounge, dining and kitchen space. This space opens to the courtyard and pool area.
The first floor with its internal balcony is orientated around the central stair. All first floor accommodation includes W.I.R. and ensuite. The design provides clean, minimalist, modernist family homes with a touch of the east.
